wearing Indian Handlooms in Bhutan
Kanjivaram or Kanchipuram sarees are silk sarees made in Kanchipuram of Tamil Nadu. One of the finest silk sarees available in India, each saree is woven with a lot of care and dedication. It takes up to 4 months to weave a single Kanchipuram saree.
Made in pure mulberry silk, Kanchipuram silk sarees come in different colors and patterns and showcase very rich and intricate woven work. In South India, Kanjivaram sarees are specially picked as bridal sarees and are considered very auspicious wedding wear. The weavers of Kanchipuram follow certain rituals before weaving bridal sarees, making these sarees even more special.
While I was traveling all over Bhutan I got to stay at a property called RKPO Resort. It gave me this traditional feel and I decided to wear something traditional and handwoven that day. I picked this raw silk dress with a kanjivaram dupatta. This dress did steal my heart and many Bhutanese hearts too <3 . Its rich texture made me feel royal and the architecture of the resort complimented the dress.
I also wore a colorful Bhutanese Hand woven Dupatta in my next blog. Check my next blog for the pictures.
