Gilli Love ♥

Like I told in my previous blog, we decided to spend the last three days of the trip in Gilli. We drove for about an hour to Padangbai and took a ferry to Gilli Islands. This tiny island is engulfed by corals and surrounded by white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and a mesmerizing underwater life. The Gilli islands are a group of three tiny islands – Gilli Trawangan, Gilli Meno and Gilli Air. Wherein Trawangan is known as the Party Island, Air is known as social backpacker island and Meno is known couples island. Knowing this we chose Gilli Trawangan. This place is no less than Maldives while it has some amazing white sand beaches and spectacular sunsets. What makes it even more beautiful is the fact that your means of transport to get around would be a bicycle or a Tonga.

My curated mini guide:

How to get there

Most fast boat services are inclusive of pick up from Ubud to the jetty. All you do is wait for the driver to pick up you at the hotel lobby in Ubud. Padangbai harbor departure is preferable because it has the shortest sea cross which takes about 3.5 hrs and more calm waters.

Getting around

There is no motorized transport on the islands. Your options are bicycles or horse carts which are available for rent on the island.

To Do List

♥Rent a bicycle and pedal around the shores of the island which hardly takes an hour.

♥ Scuba dive and a Snorkel is a must where you would be swimming along with the beautiful turtles around you.

♥Don’t forget to experience the sunset every day while sipping your favorite drink off the shore.

♥ Go for club hopping on your bicycles revealing your balancing skills after getting a little tipsy 😉

♥ Swing in the famous swings located on the west coast while the sun sets behind you.

♥Don’t forget to try the local food here. My favorites are Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng.

♥ End your trip with a relaxing traditional Balinese massage.

and last but not least, take some time to SLOW DOWN and unwind. Gili Trawangan is perfect to get your digital detox. A minimum of 3 nights is a must to experience the best of the island.

The whole trip to Bali and Gili Islands has cost me 70,000 INR for a 10-day trip though I planned it just a day in advance.

      Hi Samira,
My sister Hasini is studying in Europe. As she already has a Schengen visa she can travel to any country in that zone. In your case, Ukraine is not a part of Schengen zone anymore. So you need to apply for a Schengen Visa.
